RANCHASSIST™ SPRAYER CALCULATOR — ABOUT
Sprayer Calculator is a field-ready RanchAssist utility for planning pasture and field spray applications. It brings tank-mix arithmetic, coverage, calibration, refill planning, product quantities, and cost per acre into one practical workflow that can be used from a phone, tablet, or desktop.
WHAT IT IS BUILT TO SOLVE
Sprayer jobs often require several connected calculations at once:
- How many total gallons of spray solution are required?
- How many acres will one tank cover at the intended GPA?
- How many full tanks and refills will the field require?
- What is the exact final spray volume for a partial last tank?
- How much of each product belongs in the whole job, a full tank, and the final partial tank?
- What application rate is the sprayer actually producing at the entered speed and nozzle output?
- How long will a tank last?
- What does the application cost per acre?
Sprayer Calculator keeps those calculations connected so a change to acres, GPA, tank capacity, calibration, or a product rate can be reflected across the plan without rebuilding the math from scratch.
FOUR WORKING MODES
1. Mix Calculator
Enter acres, target spray volume (GPA), usable tank size, and repeatable product rows. Product rates are entered by the user from the applicable label. Supported planning units include fluid ounces per acre, pints per acre, quarts per acre, gallons per acre, fluid ounces per 100 gallons, percent final solution, and a custom per-acre unit.
2. Coverage Calculator
Use tank capacity and GPA to calculate acres per tank, total spray solution, tank loads, the final partial-tank volume, and refill count.
3. Sprayer Calibration
Use boom width or nozzle spacing and count, travel speed, and nozzle flow—or a catch-test volume and time—to calculate theoretical GPA, acres per hour, carrier gallons per hour, and tank duration.
4. Cost Per Acre
Enter product container size and price to prorate chemical usage cost, then add carrier, labor, equipment, fuel/operating, and other job costs to estimate total application cost and cost per acre.
DESIGNED FOR THE LAST PARTIAL TANK
A full tank is usually straightforward. The last partial load is where arithmetic becomes easier to rush or approximate.
Sprayer Calculator explicitly calculates the remaining final spray volume and scales each entered product quantity to the acres covered by that partial tank. The result is presented in a compact per-tank instruction card intended to be easy to reference beside the sprayer.
The card does not prescribe a universal mixing sequence. Product labels and equipment guidance remain the controlling sources for mixing order, agitation, carrier quality, compatibility, induction, rinsing, and final-fill procedure.
TRANSPARENT CALCULATIONS
RanchAssist tools are designed to show their work.
Sprayer Calculator includes Calculation Details so users can inspect formulas, input values, derived values, and rounding. Key formulas include:
Total spray volume = acres × GPA
Acres per tank = tank gallons ÷ GPA
Total boom GPM = nozzle GPM × nozzle count
GPA = 5,940 × total boom GPM ÷ (mph × boom width in inches)
Acres/hour = boom width in feet × mph ÷ 8.25
Cost per acre = total application cost ÷ field acres
Calculated field capacity is theoretical. Real work can be affected by turns, overlap, refill time, terrain, pressure variation, nozzle condition, weather, obstacles, and interruptions.
THE LABEL CONTROLS THE APPLICATION
Sprayer Calculator is a planning and arithmetic tool. It is not a pesticide recommendation engine.
RanchAssist does not recommend products, rates, combinations, or off-label uses. Users must enter the applicable rate themselves.
The current pesticide, herbicide, adjuvant, or other product label is the controlling source for legal use, including application rate, PPE, restrictions, re-entry, grazing and haying intervals, environmental precautions, compatibility, mixing requirements, and other directions.
The calculator does not replace applicator licensing or training, product labels, equipment manuals, agronomic judgment, local extension guidance, professional advice, or applicable law and regulation.
SESSION-FIRST, USER-CONTROLLED PROJECTS
Sprayer Calculator does not require a user account or a RanchAssist project database.
During the active browser session, the tool may use sessionStorage to protect work from accidental same-session refresh or navigation. It does not use localStorage as a substitute for permanent project saving.
For work that should be continued later, users can save a RanchAssist .ra project file to their own device. The .ra file preserves the editable Sprayer Calculator project state, including applicable field inputs, tank inputs, products, calibration inputs, cost inputs, mode, notes, project metadata, and user settings required to reconstruct the project.
A saved .ra file is user-controlled local storage, not RanchAssist cloud storage.
REPORTING AND SHARING
Sprayer Calculator can produce practical outputs for the shop, cab, records, or another person involved in the job:
- Print / Save PDF
- CSV
- Copy Summary
- Email summary
- Local .ra project file for editable save/resume
Project saving is intentionally separate from report exports. A PDF or CSV is a record; a .ra file is the editable RanchAssist project.
PART OF RANCHASSIST
Sprayer Calculator is one of the standalone tools in RanchAssist™, a collection of practical calculators, estimators, planners, and mapping utilities built around real ranch and field workflows.
The RanchAssist design approach is intentionally simple: modern field-operations software, precise calculations, visible assumptions, clear units, useful exports, and a mobile experience that still works when the user is outside the office.
